Lipid Clinic

Lipid is another name for “fat.”  Cholesterol and triglycerides are two types of lipids carried in the bloodstream.  Lipid levels may become abnormal due to genetics, use of certain medications, the aging process and lifestyle choices such as consuming foods high in fat, being physically inactive, or being overweight. Abnormal lipid levels, especially high cholesterol, are a serious health risk.   Left untreated, high blood cholesterol can lead to coronary artery disease, heart attack and stroke.

The Lipid Clinic at Heart Specialists focuses on dietary and lifestyle modification in order to maintain optimum lipid levels.  We administer labs on site, analyze results and make medication adjustments as needed.  Information and instruction is provided to help patients minimize cardiovascular risk while maintaining healthy cholesterol numbers.
